Want to hear one of my favourite pieces of insight about your career?

I love this quote and I have pinned it to a succession of walls in different offices. To me, it sums up why a compelling vision - whether that be for your career, your life or your organisation - is so powerful.

I firmly believe that you need a vision for your life and your career.

It gives you a sense of direction and crucially, purpose.

It lets you dream AND plan.

And a great vision will evolve as you do, without taking you off track.

It lets you follow your North Star.

Why you need a vision statement

If you’ve never sat down and tried to articulate your vision, then it’s high time you did. It’s a really powerful tool as you continue in your leadership career and helps you organise your thoughts and your actions so you can be much more intentional about your next steps.

And it means that whenever you apply for a role, sit down for an interview or even consider whether or not to take that job, you can let your vision guide you.

Call it a constant check-in with your gut, your brain and your heart.
